Ian Douglass is an American journalist and author and contributor to WOHW Publishers with his Bugsy Mcgraw book “Brute Power,” and his B. Brian Blair book “Truth Bee Told,” and his Bledtime Stories coloring book “The Incredible Brute.”
Douglass graduated from the University of Michigan in 2001, received a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2005, and completed his MBA at the Quantic School of Business and Technology in 2021. He also graduated from the Specs Howard School of Media Arts in 2002, which is located in his hometown of Southfield, Michigan.
Writing about athleticism comes naturally to him. From 2013 to 2015, Ian Douglass received All-American honors from U.S. Masters Swimming. Also, as the special events chair for the West Michigan Sports Commission, Douglass pushed for the creation of All-Michigan honors to be bestowed upon the winners of Meijer State Games of Michigan event winners in 2015. The concept was later adopted by the National Congress of State Games, and State Games of America event winners were granted All-American honors beginning with the 2017 State Games of America in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
LITERARY WORKS: Ian first became a reporter for WEYI-TV in Flint, Michigan, in early 2006 before accepting a position on the staff of public official Andy Dillon in the Michigan House of Representatives.
On July 10, 2016, Douglass released his first book along with UFC legend Dan Severn, The Realest Guy in the Room: The Life and Times of Dan Severn. The book was published through WhatCulture and received an Editor’s Choice Award from the MLW Radio Network.
Douglass released his second and third books in 2019. The first of these books was Brute Power, the autobiography of professional wrestler Bugsy McGraw, which was released in January on Douglass’ Darkstream Press label, and in collaboration with Kenny Casanova’s WOHW Publishing. The book featured a foreword written by Rocky Johnson shortly before his death, and was selected as a finalist for the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Best Pro Wrestling Book of 2019.
Ian Douglass’ second book of 2019 was Life is Short and So Am I, the autobiography of midget wrestler and entertainer Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl, which was released through ECW Press, and co-authored with Ross Owen Williams. Forewords for the book were provided by WWE wrestlers Kofi Kingston and Curt Hawkins.
Douglass was invited by publisher Russ Smith to become a contributor to the Splice Today website early in 2020, and subsequently joined the writing staff of MEL Magazine in 2021.
Also, in 2021, Douglass released his fourth book, Truth Bee Told, with wrestler and politician B. Brian Blair. The book included forewords by Bret Hart and Steve Keirn, and an afterword by Hulk Hogan. It was selected as a finalist for the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Best Pro Wrestling Book of 2021.
